2020 Domaine Jacques Carillon Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrieres Premier Cru
Other Reviews....
Smoky aromas of citrus, green apple and a bit less floral influence precede the precise and tension-filled medium weight flavors that exude evident minerality on the youthfully austere though wonderfully persistent and solidly complex finale. This lovely effort should amply reward mid to even longer-term keeping. Drink from 2028+.

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is promising, exhibiting notions of citrus zest, crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, toasted almonds and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied satiny and layered, with bright acids and a saline, mineral finish, it's nicely balanced.

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru has a taut and fresh bouquet, very strict and linear considering the growing season, just a hint of blackcurrant leaf emerging with time. The palate is very well balanced with a juicy orange zest and peach tinged entry, good weight, more rondeur than the Champe Canet with a little more length on the finish. Excellent. Drink 2024-2042.

A very pretty lemon yellow with primrose edges. The bouquet builds steadily, just as much with tension as with bacon ripeness. More mineral intensity at the back of the palate, this becomes more tightly wound in its second half, leaving a pleasing flesh alongside the fruit intensity.

Subtle, understated premier cru, yet there is no doubting the concentration and power here. Subtle white flowers on the nose, citrus and a distinct mineral note on the palate with some spice notes adding extra complexity of flavour. Purity is the key, with a lingering freshness to finish. A long future ahead. Drink 2023 - 2032.
