Domaine Hubert Lignier is one of Burgundy’s finest addresses, producing wines that show profound depth, complexity, and structure with capacity for wonderful development in the cellar. Winemaking is quite traditional, with grapes being de-stemmed and fermented in open-top cement tanks with natural yeasts. Elevage is around 18 months for the Bourgogne and village wines, while the premier and grand cru wines remain in barrel for 20-24 months. All wines are bottled without fining or filtration.

Other Reviews....
Ripe and brooding aromas grudgingly display notes of poached plum, spice, a variety of floral elements and earth that are trimmed in admirably discreet wood. The dense, powerful and tautly muscular medium weight plus flavors exude evident minerality on the impressively complex, persistent and serious finale. This is excellent plus it's a wine that always ages well, almost irrespective of vintage. Drink through 2032+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

The 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Chaffots wafts from the glass with aromas of red berries, cherries, baking spices, orange rind and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, it's layered and seamless, with powdery tannins, bright acids and a long, saline finish.

The 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Chaffots 1er Cru has (another) very well defined bouquet with redcurrant, cranberry and sous-bois aromas, a little stemminess in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, impressive depth, but what underpins this premier cru is the freshness and tension on the finish. It should age with style. Superb. Drink 2025-2048.

Neal Martin - Vinous

This slightly south facing vineyard is being farmed biodynamically and in 2020 produced 5.5. barrels in half a hectare. Rich deep purple, the nose is a little bit less accessible, a little bit stricter, than La Riotte, offering some blackcurrant and dark raspberry, then packs a real punch at the back, with still darker fruit, pierced by a saline note at the crunchy finish. Quite different in character all the way through. 13.85% alcohol.
