2020 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue Chambolle-Musigny
Other Reviews....
An exceptionally fresh nose combines notes of various dark berries, plum, spice and pretty floral wisps. The sublimely textured medium weight flavors possess excellent concentration while offering plenty of punch on the balanced and sophisticated finale. Lovely juice and particularly so for its level. Drink from 2028+.

This is the last vineyard to be picked as the cool site of Les Porlottes, which is behind the village to the north, stays fresh. The small amount of grapes which they have from their tiny holdings in Baudes and Fuées are then added. Very rich heady purple and the nose too is super-ripe. Too much of a good thing? Flamboyant peonies and lush loganberries. Some acidity, more oak than I would expect adding cream to the rich summer pudding fruit.

The wine has a youthful exuberance that is highly engaging, with a pure, ripe cassis fruit and profuse floral notes. The texture is fresh, lively and energetic, without any lack of substance. An impressive wine, well above the norm for this level. Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé blends grapes from the mid-slope lieu-dit Les Porlottes along with some young-vine material from Les Fuées and Les Baudes. As with the other wines in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and given a cold soak prior to fermentation on native yeasts and ageing in cask (15% new). Drink 2023 - 2060.
