This too is firmly reduced and impossible to aromatically assess in this condition. There is both more volume and mid-palate density to the seductively textured and very punchy flavors that possess a sleek mouthfeel on the focused, long and beautifully well-balanced finale. The Clos du Cromin is good, but this is clearly at another level. Drink from 2027+.

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a crisp, precise, gunflint-tinged bouquet that is beautifully defined and focused. The palate is very well balanced with a wonderful line of acidity. The judicious new oak (under 20%) just lends a little weight toward the finish. This is all about the tension and energy. A ridiculously good Les Referts from Domaine Bachelet-Monnot. Drink 2024-2045.

Pale lemon colour. A smoky reduction which is far from unpleasant. The fruit starts to come out, indeed offering excellent depth of fruit, some yellow plums but still fresh, plenty of weight behind and good length.
