Once again there is a lovely sense of freshness and tension suffusing the ripe aromas of plum, violet and dark raspberry that continues onto the rich, caressing and mouth coating flavors that possess unusually good power in the context of what is typical for Ruchots on the long, raspy and firm finale. This too is a wine to buy and forget but it has the potential to be splendid in time. Drink from 2035+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

The 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Ruchots 1er Cru has a ripe and quite floral bouquet, mainly black fruit here, briary and a touch of peony. This has more finesse than the Chesaux. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy, ripe opening. Good depth, yet backward compared to others, with just a touch of orange rind and brown spices on the finish. Harmonious from start to finish, give this 4-5 years in bottle. Drink 2027-2048.

A delightful fresh glowing even mid purple. The bouquet is compelling, far from the deepest or headiest, but with a sense of finesse. The perfume grows steadily to add more volume. There is a magical balance in this wine between the sensuality and the freshness, a finesse in the tannins too.
