2020 De Bortoli The Estate Vineyard Gamay
Dark red in colour with black shaded edges and a dark red hue. Spicy sour to dark cherry aromas infused with dried clove are followed by some earthy herb like notes. Light to mid weight the palate features spicy dark cherry fruits over a back drop of sour cherry, clove, earth and subtle infusions of incense. Slightly dryish finish with fine grained tannins and balanced acidity. Concludes savoury and spicy.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
Alc. 13.7%
Other Reviews….
A combination of 70/30% whole berries/bunches, tipped into open fermenters. Matured for 6 months in 500L French casks. A medium, bright crimson. Lifted with raspberry and strawberry fruit, a little clove and sweet spices. Violets too. The whole bunches have been well handled, giving the wine just enough structure to match the light–medium bodied, savoury and creamy textured palate. Drink by 2026.
