2020 COS Frappato

COS have championed the rare grape Frappato since the inception of this project in 1980 by owners Giusto Occhipinti and Titta Cilia. Seeing the potential of Frappato, they set about to make a wine with unique character, intense but extremely fresh and light on its feet. Hailing from Vittoria in Southeast Sicily, the Frappato is grown organically on sandy soils and fermented in concrete to retain the varietal freshness.

The 2020 Frappato is a vibrant pinkish red color with a vivid bouquet of rose hips, wild strawberries and wet stone. It’s soft and pliant, casting mineral-tinged red fruits and savory herbal tones across the palate. There’s a bit of a green streak that follows from nose to finish, as the 2020 tapers off long, with cheek-puckering tension under an air of red inner florals. Drink 2022-2025.
