For over four generations, the Catena family has grown vines in the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Mendoza, Argentina. Laura Catena, great-granddaughter of winery founder Nicola Catena, is currently at the helm. Produced from a blend of four vineyards harvested at different times, this excellent fuller style Chardonnay is matured for 6-8 months in French oak barrels of varying ages.
Bright pale straw colour with straw green tinged edges and a watery hue. The nose is filled with ripe peach, honeycomb and crème brulee scents which meld into some nougat and spice notes. Rich ripe peach, honeycomb and crème brulee flavours have a creamy textural feel with notions of citrusy nougat, traces of bacon fat and spice lurking underneath. Finishes with a nicely balanced freshness and a long mouth filling aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews….
Ripe peach, dried mango, dried jasmine and buttered toast. It’s full-bodied with crisp acidity. Concentrated layers of ripe and dried fruit and a vivid, subtly smoky finish. Drink or hold.
