Coming Soon - 2020 Bindi Darshan Pinot Noir
Bindi is one of Australia’s most respected small estates, producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of purity and finesse. The vines grow in a mix of ancient Ordovician soils and volcanic slopes in the Macedon Ranges, farmed with sustainable, low-intervention methods and intensive handwork. In the winery, natural fermentations, long lees ageing, and gentle handling capture the seasonal expression of this remarkable landscape.
Bindi's Darshan Pinot Noir is sourced from their newer 2014 "high-density" vineyard planting. This block is planted at 11,300+ vines per hectare (composed of 4 different clones) and includes a “Crazy” 22,600 vines per hectare section, truly pushing the limits of extreme viticulture. Darshan, similar to the Original Vineyard, emphasizes fragrance and elegance, while Block 8 and Block 5 both exhibit shared characteristics of fruit richness and structural qualities. Fruit is fermented in open vats and matured in French oak barrels of which 35% are new for a period of 15-17 months.
With nearly four years in bottle, the 2020 Darshan is beginning to reveal added layers of earthy complexity alongside its hallmark rose fragrance. Expect a supple and fresh entry that builds texture and drive, framed by fine, gently chewy tannins. Elegant and ethereal now, it will continue to develop finesse and depth over the next decade.
