2020 Balgownie Estate Bendigo Shiraz

Totally opaque black dark red heart with a dark red hue. Elevated dark plum and liquorice aromas mix with vanillin cedar, scorched earth and blackpepper notes. Rich blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits carry a plush feel over a toasty vanillin oak, earth and blackpepper back drop. Polished yet structured tannins concluding with a fleshy medium to long aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Aged 14 months in French and American barriques and puncheons (30% new) followed by four months in older oak. Balgownie is a shiraz specialist, bringing a sense of individuality to each incarnation. Sunny in disposition and warm-hearted in style. Plum and mulberry aromatics ignite with nutmeg, cinnamon, licorice and vanilla. Layers of flavour entwine nicely with well-placed vanillin oak and well-crafted tannins. The winemaker has given the fruit his best attention. It shows. Drink by 2030.
