2020 Arnaud Lambert Terres Rouges Lieu-Dit Saumur Champigny

Arnaud Lambert is considered to be one of the most talented winemakers in Loire regularly producing what are amongst the best wines in and around Saumur. Practicing bio-dynamic viticulture and bringing a Burgundian approach to his winemaking, his Cabernet Francs are perfumed, fresh and make for delicious drinking.
A 100% Cabernet Franc from vines averaging 45 years old planted on clayey-sandy silt over limestone (90cms below) with a warmer west facing exposition. 100% de-stemmed and fermented with partial whole berries with indigenous yeast in tank after separating free run and press juices with no SO2 for ageing and just 1 mg SO2 at bottling after 8 months in tank.
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a vibrant red purple hue. Alluring red currant and red cherry scents infused with aromatic herbs intermingle with violets, subtle tobacco and dusty earth notes. Mid weighted and charming, juicy red currant and red cherry fruits are delivered with ample intensity and fruit richness overlaying a back drop of fresh herbs, tobacco and spicy earth. Loaded with freshness it has fine grained tannins and concludes with a vibrant red fruited finish that’s very savoury.
