Only recently founded, Aphelion Wine Co. has burst onto the scene, specializing in Grenache this once tiny part time venture has grown in the space of just six vintages to become one of the hottest names in Grenache. The superb 2020 Confluence is sourced from 85 year old Blewitt Springs bush vines with 35% whole bunch fruit included in the ferment and maturation taking place in neutral 500 and 2400 litre French oak barrels for a period of 10 months.

Bursting with self-confidence and succulence this is one super delicious Grenache.

Dark red in colour with black tinged edges and a bright purple red hue. Potently scented the nose offers up a mix of red to dark raspberries and dark cherries infused with dried herbs which are trailed by hints of red liquorice, vanilla and spicy pepper notes. Rich, succulent red to dark raspberry, red liquorice and dark cherry fruits glide across the expansive palate with a silky feel. Lying underneath are dried herb, scorched earth and spice elements. Boasting outstanding power it concludes with excellent freshness, a sleek tannin structure and long moreish aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Other Reviews….
A really strong edition of this grenache, packed with ripe raspberry and red-plum aromas, as well as toasted spices, berry pastry, some wild herbs and terra cotta. The palate has such impressive depth and purity of red-plum and raspberry flavor. Such ripeness and freshness with real depth and drive. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
