The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Pucelles opens in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, crisp stone fruit and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, ample and saline, it's a touch more textural and enveloping than the Caillerets, though it remains one of the finer-boned, leaner cuvées in the range. Drink 2021 - 2038.

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru comes from the Pernot family’s holding. Complex on the nose, this offers plenty of mineral/petrichor scents entwined with the citrus fruit that turns more malic with aeration. The palate is very well balanced. Real weight and concentration here, this is a dense and captivating Les Pucelles that frankly nudges Grand Cru in quality. Outstanding. Drink 2024 - 2042.

Two barrels here as with most of the 1ers crus, one from each of two sources. Paler colour, with some slightly heady notes from the family part, but better acidity behind. A little bit disparate but may well pull together.
