2019 Yalumba The Cigar Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. Dense inky black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Elevated red to black currant and dusty mulberry like scents are trailed by some cigar box, black olive and bay leaf notes. Mid weighted, rich blackcurrant fruit infused with black olives intermingle with mulberry, traces of liquorice, dusty cedar, tobacco and bay leaf characters. A sturdy tannin structure provides the back half with definition. Long refined conclusion.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

With 10% malbec. Aged for 16 months in French oak (32% new). Expressive, leafy-edged fruit characters of blackberry and blackcurrant with hints of briar, licorice, dark soy, Old Jamaica chocolate, tobacco and clove. Fleshy and sweetly fruited with grippy, sandy tannins, bright acidity and a lingering trail of cassis and spice on the finish. Drink by 2036.
