From vines with an average age of over 40 years old, this wine was aged in a mix of new, one and two year old French oak barrels on lees for around 11 months. Brilliant pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green skirting the edges and a watery hue. Refined aromas of nectarine, dried honey and cashew are trailed by hints of lemon butter, biscuity oak and light spicy nougat notes. Medium bodied with a gentle mid palate creaminess, ripe nectarine, pear and dried honey flavours meld into roasted almond characters, biscuity nougat and spice. Good richness and flesh with a medium to long aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews…..
150 dozen were produced, which is a healthy harvest for Wantirna Estate. The upcoming 2020 release is 70% down on that.
It’s a wine of texture, line and length principally but the slips of fresh pear, the echoes of meal, the sweet nut and nectarine characters; they really do seduce. This release feels super-young and unevolved but for the cellar it looks a monty. Drink 2022-2028.
