Semi translucent bright red colour with a light red hue. A mixture of red and morello cherry scents emerge from the glass with overtones of rose petal, hints of earth, fresh herbs and spice also evident. Light, fresh and very supple on entry, savoury red fruits are underpinned by earth, dried herbs, light tobacco and spice. Firms up just a touch on the finish with bright acidity and polished tannins. Good depth concluding with medium length.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 13.5%
From the now famous Malakoff Estate vineyard. The name ‘Spanna’ being a synonym for Nebbiolo in the more northern parts of Italy.
It’s a lighter, fresher style, with clarity of red cherry, a dusting of spice and pepper, amaro herbs and aniseed. Lively, fine grip of dusty, almost rusty, tannin, crisp feel, a pleasing ‘coolness’ about it, and positive grip on a pretty long finish. Well worth having a look at. Drink 2020-2027+
