Terroir al Limit is Dominik Huber's hommage to the wines of Priorat before Wine Critics from the 90's were chasing high-octane wines. His restrained approach to winemaking has resulted in wines that speak more of finesse, purity, and freshness, showing that Priorat wines do not have to be heavy, thick, and oaky. The use of high-altitude, old-vine plots allows him to harvest ripe fruit with maximum freshness, coupled with the use of whole-bunch fermentation, Huber’s wines have an almost Burgundian-like shape and structure, generating vibrancy and succulence.

100% Carignan from the Vi de Coster range (the equivalent of 1er Cru wine), the 2019 Dits del Terra can be thought of as Arbossar’s south-facing sibling. The fruit comes from three schist-rich sites (from vines more than 80 years old) where the southern-facing aspect delivers more flesh and power, yet also beautiful acidity. The grapes are fermented as whole clusters with indigenous yeast and then aged in 3,500-litre Stockinger foudres and a variety of concrete tanks.

Other Reviews....
Understated and composed nose of blueberries, grapefruit, crushed slate and wild herbs with hints of cement, white pepper and violets. Firm and immaculate tannins on the medium-bodied palate with fresh, natural acidity. Lots of harmony here. An exciting carignan with lots of freshness and finesse. Drink or hold.

The wines are very transparent with the vintage, and the 2019 Dits del Terra shows the openness of the year, a wine that is expressive and aromatic, charming and approachable but still serious and very mineral with fine tannins. Part of the wine matured in oak foudre, making it a little more classical. It has 14% alcohol but feels very balanced, and the alcohol doesn't show. Drink 2022 - 2029.
