2019 Tellurian Redline Shiraz
Tellurian’s Redline Shiraz is named after the famous red strip of Cambrian soil that runs through the Heathcote region on a north/south line along the Mt Camel range for approximately 60km. Fruit is sourced from two blocks on the Estate, planted in 2002 and 2006 respectively which are certified organic. Maturation takes in a mixture of 95% French oak and 5% American oak barriques, of which 5% were new, for a period of 10 months.
Layered with waves of rich, opulently textured fruit this Heathcote Shiraz delivers fantastic value.
Certified organic. Dense inky black heart with a very deep dark red black hue. Showing ample volume out of the glass are ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice aromas which are followed by vanillin cedar, earthy fennel and spicy dark chocolate notes. Full in body, the palate possesses a deep well of rich, plushly textured fruit which sees blackberry, liquorice and dark plum flavours rolling throughout the mouth. Elements of vanillin oak, subtle fennel and dark chocolate chime in on the back half to compliment the opulent fruit. Velvet like in their feel the tannins have an underlying sturdiness which firms up the finish a touch. Exuding depth and power it concludes with a long, concentrated aftertaste that sees the emergence of some spice.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
