Deep bright dark red heart with black tinged edges and a vibrant red hue. Fragrant spicy red cherry and raspberry scents have a graphite like overlay with smoked meat and peppered herb notes ensuing. A lively freshness and stern, slightly grippy tannins provide the backbone to the delicious dark raspberry and liquorice fruits. Earth, dried herb and peppered meat elements move in on the back half. Finishes dry, tense and vibrant.

Other Reviews…..
Just recently I saw all this gushing, cooing froth over the Swinney Farvie grenache wine compiled to look real sweet for those needing a cattle prod into the fancy-priced wine, but I’ll stick by my guns that the 2018 regular Swinney grenache, ie this wine, was the superior wine; enjoy the oak and extraction, pals, this cuvee was more unadorned, untinkered with, and more an essence of place, with purity of fruit and tannin to the fore. So brilliant. Another stellar release here. Hope the Farvie can best it, and amazing if it can…
Them tannins. Whoa. Italianate and fine, a swish and web that sucks and pulls, draws long and gives this beautiful shape to the mellifluous, come-hither dark fruit and wild herb n spice that features so heavily in this wine. Amazing perfume, a little quieter than 2018 but with all the appeal and flighty, floral and spice fragrance of best grenache from anywhere. Pent up, tight, precise and pure, the palate is a masterpiece example of the variety. That tension, that length! All here. Such a good wine. Drink 2020-2028.
