2019 Sutton Grange Fairbank Syrah

Dense inky black core with a deep bright dark purple hue. Pronounced liquorice and red plum top notes intermingle with vanillin cedar, dried herb and peppered meat notes. Juicy dark plum and liquorice fruits flood the mouth with notions of fennel, vanillin cedar, a subtle meatiness and black pepper lying underneath. Fleshy in texture it finishes bright with velvety tannins and a long richly fruited aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Fairbank shows the other side of the syrah coin, the plummy, juicy, sweet-fruited side that offers excellent early drinking, with the promise of some medium-term ageing. Brilliant purple hues, bright, jubey, cassis, plum and concentrated spice. Balance, texture and good length on display, together with some signature bush mint. It's all here. Drink by 2033.
