Tasmania like Burgundy has a truly cool climate, making it an ideal location to grow Pinot Noir. Certified biodynamic, this single vineyard Pinot is from a mix of two terroirs: grey gravelly loams over clay and red loam over gravel. Fruit is hand picked and sorted by hand on a vibrating table with maturation taking place in French oak for a period of 8-10 months.
Deep dark red purple heart with black shaded surrounds and a dark red hue. Sailing out of the glass are powerful scents of dark cherries, violets, wild strawberries and subtle anise. Light toasty cedar, dried herb, forest floor and spice notes ensue. Rich seductive dark cherry, wild strawberry and plum fruits oversee a back drop of anise, earth, dried herbs and light spicy cedar. Bright, sour cherry like acidity provides freshness with sturdily built tannins lending ample structure. Slightly robust yet long conclusion.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 13%

Other Reviews….
Benchmark pinot from this celebrated, biodynamic estate vineyard in the Derwent Valley. A gorgeous core of exact black cherries and blackberries. Confident support from French oak brings impressive scaffolding of firm, fine, mineral tannins. The finish holds good (if not excellent) length, but may build with age. It certainly has the stamina to endure long. Drink by 2034.
