2019 Stefano Lubiana Chardonnay
Certified organic. Bright pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Nosing offers up a refined and complex aromatic profile of white peach, nectarine, dried honey and lemon butter over delicate cashew and spicy nougat notes. Rich yet only medium weight and carrying good freshness, the palate is amply endowed with fleshy white peach and nectarine fruits. Subtle dried honey, cashew, light spicy nougat and traces of gun flint lie beneath. Gently creamy in its texture it finishes dry with a long highly finessed aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews….
Estate biodynamic vineyard in the Derwent Valley; 250 dozen. The refinement that Steve Lubiana has brought to his chardonnay over recent vintages is something to behold. He's achieved the holy grail of elegance without sacrificing definition, concentration, persistence or endurance. Pristine white fruits are ever-so-gently propelled by high-class French oak. Crystalline acidity illuminates a finish of pinpoint accuracy, undeterred line and magnificent persistence. Drink by 2034.
