The first winery in the Clare Valley, Sevenhill Cellars was established by Jesuits in 1851 to produce sacramental wine.
Today they produce a range of table wines from select parcels of premium fruit as well as estate wines from the unique vineyard sites on the property. The Quarry Road is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Franc all sourced from estate vineyards.
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Spicy dark plum and liquorice aromas mix with vanillin cedar, scorched earth and spice notes. The rich, medium bodied palate features dark plum and blackcurrant flavours over vanillin cedar, earth, dried herbs and spice. Fleshy textured it has a sturdy underlying tannin structure and a slightly chewy mid length conclusion.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 13.5%

Other Reviews….
This has aromas of ripe berries, plums, redcurrants and a leafy thread, too. The blacker, malbec fruit drives the palate, with blackberries sitting plush into the finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Very fine cocoa-powder tannins shape the delicate, plump, and cushioned fruit in the mouth. This is elegant and poised, with good length of flavour that shoots out across the finish line and provides additional time for reminiscing the flavours. Smart. Drink 2021 – 2031.
