2019 Seghesio Langhe Nebbiolo
Seghesio is an under the radar producer that is fast building a reputation for delivering great value. The fruit for this wine comes from the lowest section of the vineyards and the wine spends four to five months in old barriques. 2019 is shaping up to be another outstanding year in the Langhe with early reports comparing the quality of the vintage to 2016.
Dark red core with subtle tinges of black to the edges and a light red hue. Fragrant and enticing the nose offers up scents of rose petal, red cherry and red raspberry which are trailed by earthy tobacco, dried herb and spicy new leather notes. Brimming with delicious red fruits, the palate is intensely flavoured with cherries, raspberries and liquorice which are underpinned by stern tannins and bright acidity. Earth, tobacco, dried herb and spicy cedar elements add charm. Dry, grippy finish with a long robust aftertaste that nonetheless has a savoury edge to it.
Cellar 5-6 years.
