Mario Schiopetto was the man considered responsible for bringing fame to Friuli’s white wines. He pioneered wine preservation techniques in the wine making process, something lacking in the region in the 1970’s - cold and anti-oxidative handling, epitomised by the German handling of Riesling - along with the more 'French' technique of elevating their wines in a careful, more oxidative, texture-building manner.
Schiopetto’s standout variety is Friulano which sees 7-8 months on lees resulting in a wine that’s rich in texture and flavour with an abundance of wild floral and almond notes on the nose, supported on the palate with rich stone fruits and refreshing acidity.

Other Reviews....
The 2019 Friulano wafts up flowery perfumes mixed with notes of tropical citrus, hints of kiwi and musky apricot. It’s soothing with soft textures, offset by hints of spice and dazzling acids which enliven the expression, giving way to mineral-laced orchard fruits. Hints of young mango offset by zests of lime and exotic inner florals linger and complete the experience perfectly. This is a pleasure to taste. Drink 2022 - 2026

Lots of peach-pit, almond, cantaloup and melon aromas follow through to a full body with creamy texture and a flinty finish. Drink now.

Spring blossoms, summer orchard fruit, citrus and a whiff of hazelnut shape the nose. Both creamy and savory, the rounded, medium-bodied palate features ripe Bartlett pear, juicy grapefruit and the same hazelnut note as the nose.
