Pierre Amadieu is a family-owned domaine established in 1929 in the village of Gigondas. Wines are made, matured and bottled on the estate, which now covers 140 hectares. Pierre is in charge of winemaking and maturation, while his uncle Claude runs the vineyard.
Made from a blend of Grenache and Syrah this is a vibrant modern style of Cotes du Rhone. Opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Nosing offers up a mix of black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice scents followed by some dried herb and peppered meat notes. Juicy dark cherry, black raspberry and liquorice fruits have a savoury finish with scorched earth, dried herb and peppered earth elements lingering on the back half. Ripe, slightly chewy tannins lend character with a long pepper infused aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 14%

Other Reviews….
Show-stopping value and quality again from this most reliable of southern Rhône producers. Laced with earth and spice, its juicy bouquet of cranberries, blood plums and cherries precedes a long, richly flavoured and textural palate of crunchiness and brightness. Red and blue fruits framed by mouth-coating tannins drive long and impactful towards a faintly meaty, savoury and liquorice-like finish that becomes more mineral with aeration. Delicious!
