Other Reviews....
Offering up aromas of citrus oil, blanched almonds, drawn butter and white flowers, the 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux is medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural, its layered core of fruit girdled by bright acids, concluding with a long, saline finish. From very old vines growing in clay soils, this cuvée has turned out especially well in 2019.

The 2019 Chablis Les Butteaux 1er Cru has an elegant bouquet of yellow plum, honeysuckle and touches of sea spray, all detailed and focused. The palate is crisp, taut and lightly spiced, with good depth, fine salinity and spiciness coming through toward the harmonious finish. Fine.

Patrick Piuze’s, butteaux is a more backward beast than his Forêts. Pale in colour, with little bouquet showing, there is a chalky texture and, some tannins are apparent on the palate. Notable weight behind and excellent acidity. Fills the mouth beautifully.
