Includes 20% whole bunch. Deep dark red black colour with a bright purple red hue. Fragrant violet, plum and red liquorice scents evolve from the glass followed by light fresh herb and pepper notes. Delicious spicy raspberry and red liquorice fruits are both juicy and vibrant in their feel. Subtle earth, infusions of fresh herbs and pepper sit underneath backed by fresh acidity. Light fine grained tannins with a crunchy, fresh, red fruited finish.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 13.7%
I don’t have a bottle image, and it’s a very new thing from the boys at Onannon. I texted Sam Middleton just now, and he said “Warm north facing vineyard, 20% whole bunch (of which 3-5% was viognier), remainder de-stemmed on top. 40 days on skins (and 40 nights. presumably), meow meow meow (my edit)… kept So2 low at around 20ppm).” It’s very purple, to taste and to view. Cherry, spice, grilled meat and perfume. It’s sort of like a bigger Shiraz-based Beaujolais in intent, I’d say, and fits the bill in that respect very well. A bit savoury, a bit berry stonefruit juicy, light chalky tannin, peppery and fragrant on a crisp and pleasantly meaty/herbal/pulpy fruit finish. Tasty. Nicely done. Drink 2020-2024+
