$839.88 Dozen
ABV: 13.7%
Closure: Cork

Located near Cape Town, South Africa, the Swartland has a rich viticultural history with many old-vine vineyards, rich geological diversity and featuring bush-vines that are untrellised. The fruit for the Mullineux Syrah is sourced from 7 different vineyard sites across the Swartland, featuring the schist soils of the Kasteelberg, the decomposed Granite of the Paardeberg, and the iron-rich soils west of Malmesbury. To keep the fruit cool picking occurs early in the morning and is brought into the winery where only 10% of the bunches are destemmed. After fermentation the wine is matured in 500L french oak barrels for 11 months, followed by 9 months in tank to allow the tannins to settle and amalgamate.

Other Reviews....
Aromas of grilled plums, grilled meat, coriander and clove. Medium- to full-bodied with silky tannins. Succulent and deep with steady intensity. Chocolate and blueberry come through. Lovely. Drink now.

Beginning with a red-fruited core with dusty floral aromas, the 2019 Syrah offers notes of red and black spice in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the wine envelops the palate with fresh and succulent tannins before showing impressive focus across the mid-palate. The Syrah concludes with a fine, firm and delightful mineral tension on the finish that fades with a food-friendly, tannic grip. Drink 2022 - 2031.
