2019 Morris Rutherglen CHM Durif

Matured in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Impenetrable inky black in colour with a very deep black dark red hue. Heady ripe black cherry, liquorice and Morello cherry scents waft through the nostrils with some toasty vanillin oak, dark chocolate and spicy earth notes also chiming in. Rich black and Morello cherry, liquorice as well as mocha flavours flood the mouth. Full in body but far from over the top, lurking in the background are toasty vanillin oak, scorched earth and peppered dried herb elements. The sturdy tannin structure quite polished in its feel. Concludes long and bold yet with a refined tone that’s atypical for this variety.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
