Moorooduc Estate, planted in 1982, was one of the first to be established on the Mornington Peninsula by Richard and Jill McIntyre. With yields of less than 2 tons per acre and the fruit 100% destemmed the resultant wine was matured in French oak with 25% being new for a period of 17 months.
Deep dark red core with black tinged edges and a red to dark red hue. Uplifted violet, dark cherry and anise aromas stream out of the glass followed by some forest floor, wild herb and spicy cedar notes. Rich, silky textured dark cherry and strawberry fruits overlay a dried herb, forest floor, subtle anise and spicy cedar back drop. Very polished tannins concluding with good power and a long spicy aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13.5%
