2019 Mitolo Jester Cabernet Sauvignon

Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Lifted ripe blackcurrant and dried cherry aromas mix with hints of liquorice, vanillin cedar, dried herb and spicy black olive notes. Rich, bold and opulent the palate is swamped with ripe blackcurrant, morello cherry and liquorice fruits which overlay a dried herb, vanillin cedar and spicy black olive back drop. Sturdy tannins impart a chewy feel onto the long ripe conclusion.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Piercing notes of blackcurrant, reminiscent of Ribena. Herbaceous riffs of hedgerow, spearmint and greengage provide lift. Lithe, dense sage-crusted tannins find effortless affinity with the oak cladding (70/30% French/American, all used). But it is the extract and generous mouthfeel that prove winning. No wonder, as 20% of the fruit was dried in the appassimento fashion. This is an impressive cabernet: saline, maritime, full bodied and highly regional. Drink by 2027.
