2019 Mesh Eden Valley Riesling

Brilliant water like colour with greenish tinged edges. Aromas of lemon and lime jump out of the glass followed by granny smith apple, talc and wet steel notes. Mouth watering lime juice and lemon flavours have a racy feel underpinned by crunchy acidity with talc and steely mineral characters the back drop. Finishes dry, long and zesty.
Drink now or cellar 5-6 years.

It’s been a while in between Mesh’s (though not Resch’s) for me. I last checked in on 2008, and last bought the 2002 vintage, when it was quite a thing to be rushed at. Way to make me feel old.
It’s a very good release, I think. Perfume of flowers, kaffir lime and lemongrass, tight and crunchy with juicy classic lemon/lime flavours, a steeliness and river pebble and talc kind of texture, a clean line of acidity, and grip and precision on a long dry finish, drizzle of citrus to encourage further drinking. No problem cracking this now. It’s excellent. Drink 2019-2029+
