2019 Mermerus Chardonnay
A rich, amply weighted and creamy textured Chardonnay.
Partial wild yeast fermentation (30%) and extended lees contact in barrel have added texture and complexity, maturation taking place in oak barriques (approx. 20% new) for a period of 10 months. Bright pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Intense ripe peach, apricot and honeycomb scents jump out of the glass complemented by crème brulee, light butterscotch finger and spicy nougat notes. Amply weighted and creamy in texture, the mouth is filled with rich luscious peach and apricot fruits which overlay a back drop of honeycomb, crème brulee and spicy nougat characters. Finishes with sufficient freshness to keep everything in balance. Long refined cream tinged aftertaste.
