Semi translucent dark red colour with black tinged edges and a light red hue. Fragrant violet, red cherry and winter strawberry scents blossom from the glass followed by forest floor, stalky cedar, meaty notes and spicy dried herbs. Long and elegant, flavours of red to dark cherry and strawberry drive the palate with notions of dried herbs, forest floor, a subtle meatiness and spicy cedar underscoring the fruit. Very polished tannins with a long savoury conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews….
A very restrained nose leads in to a compact and very long palate. The cherry and spice flavours don't provide flourish or flamboyance on the palate; rather they forge, very seriously, across a predetermined track, straight through to a long finish. Structurally serious and so dense as to almost be sturdy, this is in need of some ageing in order for it to show its significant potential. Drink by 2031.
