Marchand & Burch is a collaboration of two old friends from France and Australia who share a love of fine wine. Winemaker Pascal Marchand and vigneron Jeff Burch have embarked on a partnership to hand-craft Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from selected sites in both countries.
Fruit for this Bourgogne is sourced from vineyards located in Nuits-Saint-Georges (Prémeaux side), Marsannay and Côtes de Beaune. Ten percent whole bunch fruit is included in the fermentation process with ageing taking place in older French oak for 12 months followed by 3 months in vat.
Dark red in colour with a bright red hue. Very perfumed out of the glass with alluring scents of violets, red to dark cherries, red plum, winter strawberries, hints of spicy anise and fresh herbs filling the nostrils. Light in body but intensely flavoured, rich cherry and ripe strawberry fruits engulf the mouth. Notions of anise, scorched earth and spicy herbs ensue. Expansive and powerful with a supple feel and velvet like tannins it concludes long, beautifully ripe and spicy.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
