2019 Levantine Hill Syrah
Deep black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Aromas of red to dark plum, clove and red liquorice are interwoven with meaty notes, earth and peppered herbs. The mid weighted palate is generously endowed with dark plum and red liquorice fruits which overlay a rhubarb, clove, vanillin cedar, smoked meat and peppered earth back drop. Fine grained tannins concluding spicy and elegant.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 13%
Other Reviews…..
This was ‘hand-picked over 6 distinct days’, which is surely better than six indistinct days. Anyway, I give winemaker Paul Bridgeman 100 points for his choice of guitar and amplifier; namely a Gibson Les Paul paired with a Vox.
Morello cherries from a jar, a little truffle, some exotic spice, hazelnut and Xmas cake. It’s medium-bodied, a little bit squishy in flavour, with some rhubarb and baked berry fruit, but has fairly supple sooty tannin, some black olive and more umami characters, cedar oak in tow, with a gently sappy ripe tomato finish of solid length. Drink 2023-2030.
