2019 Jeanneret Rank & File Shiraz

Ben Jeanneret calls this curiously named wine 'Rank & File'. It's what Shiraz represents to him - the heart and soul of the Australian wine industry. Sourced from some of the best low yielding, old vine vineyards in Clare, the fruit for this wine was matured in a mixture of French and American oak. Year in year out this is one of our best selling Shiraz, the powerful rich black fruits and opulent feel make it irresistible drinking.

Ben Jeanneret describes the 2019 vintage as terrific with modest crops of 2 tonnes per acre delivering stunning Shiraz fruit. Impenetrable midnight black colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Soaring out of the glass are liquorice and dark plum aromas infused with mint followed by some toasty vanillin oak and spice. Ultra rich and voluptuous the palate is a super concentrate of lush blackberry, liquorice and black plum fruits all infused with mint. Toasty vanillin oak and spice elements lying underneath. Liqueur like texture with velvety yet sturdily built tannins. Magnificent power and weight with a finish that’s long and decadently rich.
