A brooding and restrained nose reluctantly offers up its aromas of red and dark currant, warm earth and a menthol hint. There is outstanding volume and mid-palate density to the reasonably refined if not exactly elegant flavors that culminate in the hallmark austerity of a classic Clos de Vougeot. Patience not only a virtue but essential with this wine. Drink 2034+.

Rich aromas of cassis, plums, warm spices, dark chocolate and toasty new oak introduce Boillot's 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, a full-bodied, deep and concentrated wine that's layered and elegantly muscular, with lively acids and powdery structuring tannins. Youthfully reserved, this has turned out very nicely. Drink 2027 - 2057.
