Cellar: Drink now - 5 Years (2022-2027)
ABV: 15%

A model of consistency year in year out and one of Cotes du Rhones best buys, the 2019 vintage is a blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre sourced from vines with an average age of 35 years. Maturation takes place in oak casks for a period of 18 months.
Dense pitch black core with a deep dark red hue. Sailing out of the glass are ripe black cherry, liquorice and blackberry scents which meld into hints of dark chocolate, earth and spice. One of the bigger, heavier renditions of Guigal’s Cote du Rhone, the palate is swamped with rich, succulent black cherry, liquorice and blackberry fruit. The earthy back drop also sees notions of dark chocolate, leather and spicy dried herbs evident. Ripe chewy tannins lend some grip to what is a robust conclusion.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 15%

Other Reviews….
The 2019 Côtes Du Rhône will be a no-brainer purchase. This Syrah-heavy red has lots of blackberry, bouquet garni, and peppery notes in a ripe, full-bodied, textured style. It’s well worth buying and drinking over the coming 5-7 years.
