2019 Grosset Springvale Riesling

Certified organic, 2019 was the lowest yielding vintage in decades for Grosset producing powerful, concentrated wines. Brilliant very pale straw in colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Jumping out of the glass are lime juice, citrus and orange rind scents laced with talc, wet steel and mineral notes. Exceptionally concentrated lime and lemon flavours fill the mouth backed by racy acidity. Lingering on the finish are orange rind, chalky talc and flinty mineral elements. Concludes dry and crisp with a very long precise aftertaste.
Drink now or cellar 6-8 years.

Slightly deeper colour than the Polish Hill, although why it should be thus I don't know. The bouquet and palate march in tune, bringing Meyer lemon, lime and green apple into play from the outset. It's dangerously easy to drink. Drink by 2034.

 The differences between Springvale and Polish Hill riesling have become less pronounced over the years. I would argue.
This leans on the talc and the chalk before it hits the pedals of citrus and apple. It boasts both delicacy and intensity though at this early stage it’s still working out the finish; it’s long without having write-home length. There’s almost a suggestion of grapefruit here or at least of citrus rind; in any case it’s tucked neatly into the overall flow. Drink 2020 - 2028+
