2019 Fire Gully Chardonnay

Pierro is renown for producing one of Margaret River’s best Chardonnays. In 1998 Dr Michael Peterkin of Pierro purchased the nearby Fire Gully property and now manages the vineyard with the previous owners Ellis and Margaret Butcher. The brief to produce a Margaret River Chardonnay that delivered exceptional value. Whilst different in style, the 2019 Fire Gully Chardonnay has Pierro’s stamp of quality all over it and at $30 makes for a great earlier drinking option.

Rich and textured yet delightfully fresh, this is a great understudy to Pierro Chardonnay.

Fermented and then matured in older French oak barrels for a period of 7 months in order to retain the wines pristine fruit qualities. Brilliant pale straw colour with distinctive highlights of green running around the outskirts and a watery hue. Drifting from the glass with more than ample volume are white peach, ripe nectarine and dried honey scents which are trailed by hints of butterscotch, citrusy nougat and spice. Rich, fleshy peach and nectarine fruits show excellent intensity and drive with elements of dried honey, citrusy nougat, light bacon fat and spice lurking underneath. Concludes with plenty of freshness and a long gently creamed aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
