2019 Feudo Montoni Catarratto Masso
This Catarratto comes from the ‘Masso’ cru, which is one of the highest vineyards on the Feudo Montoni Estate at 700m and named because of its rocky-sandy soil. The vines are aged between 55 and 60 years old but have been grafted onto very old bush vines producing fruit that’s dense and full flavoured. This iron rich soil contributes to a wine that is intensely fresh and mineral. After concrete fermentation, the wine is kept on lees for 6 months with some batonnage before being bottled.
Certified organic. Brilliant water like colour with a shimmering tinge of green around the outskirts. Delightful pear, lime and green apple scents jump out of the glass and are embraced by infusions of fresh herbs and stony mineral notes. Delicious flavours of juicy pear, green apple infused with fresh herb and lime are sprawled across the palate with great intensity. A stony mineral character shining through on the dry, refreshing finish. Energetic acidity with a long crisp aftertaste. Perfect for summer.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.
