2019 Evans & Tate Redbrook Estate Cabernet Merlot

Midnight black in colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Evolving out of the glass are aromas of blackcurrant, mulberry and black olive which are trailed by some cigar box, earth and bay leaf notes. Medium bodied, generous blackcurrant and mulberry fruits flesh out across the palate with some cedary tobacco, earthy black olive and bay leaf characters lying underneath. Sturdy tannin structure concluding medium to long and spicy.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

With 14/4/1% merlot/cabernet franc/malbec. All varieties fermented and matured separately, in French oak for up to 14 months (15% new). This is routinely a very smart wine and this year is no exception. Savoury overtones colour the nose with layers of peppercorn, hung deli meat and ironstone/ferrous notes, while the juicy undercurrent of red and black fruits courses beneath it all. Compelling drinking. Drink by 2031.
