2019 Erste + Neue Pinot Grigio

In Alto Adige Pinot Grigio ranks as one of the most important varieties and altitude is king. Erste + Neue’s Pinot Grigio comes from some of their highest sites ranging in altitudes up to 800 metres that have an array of different soil types. Picked in late September to retain acidity and freshness, post fermentation the pressed juice spends 3 to 4 months in steel with around 10% on solids to provide additional texture and palate weight.

Boasting wonderful intensity, purity of fruit and texture this is one uber-delicious Pinot Grigio.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a faint tinge of green to the edges and a watery hue. Delightful pear, red apple and light honeysuckle aromas flood the olfactory senses followed by hints of musk, pebble stone and spice. Featuring fabulous intensity and a gorgeously rounded textural feel, the palate is decorated with pear, apple, citrus and honeysuckle flavours that show great fruit purity. Notions of subtle musk and stony mineral characters sit underneath. Finishes dry and fresh with beautifully balanced acidity. Completing the picture is a long moreish aftertaste making this one of the most impressive Pinot Grigio’s we’ve tasted for quite some time.
