2019 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Nuits Saint Georges Les Pruliers Premier Cru
A top note of herbal tea is present on the earthy and markedly sauvage-inflected aromas of red and dark currant with a smoky nuance. The denser if less refined medium weight plus flavors exhibit a taut muscularity along with focused powerful on the sappy, serious, youthfully austere and impressively long finish where the only reproach is a touch of warmth. This is always one of Taupenot's best wines, certainly among the 1ers, and 2019 is no different. Drink from 2031+.
Allen Meadows - Burghound
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a backward bouquet that demands coaxing, scents of dark berry fruit, leather and sous-bois, with brown spices and sage. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Quite linear in style, it politely refuses to fan out on the finish. If you are looking for a strict and slightly backward Les Pruliers then this is the place to come. Drink 2023-2037.
Neal Martin - Vinous
Big rich purple, heady dark fruit, thick textured then some spice behind which helps keep it in check. A typically dark fruited middle sector Nuits-St-Georges, which will develop more character with age.
