A more elegant array of red currant, spice and a lovely range of floral elements serves as a lovely introduction to the sleeker and more refined medium weight flavors that possess an appealing sense of underlying tension while delivering outstanding length on the balanced finale. This youthfully austere effort is quite firm though the supporting tannins are relatively fine-grained. This too is worthy of your interest. Drink from 2031+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

The king of the cellar is the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes, a striking wine from vines planted more than 100 years ago. Unwinding in the glass with a complex bouquet of cherries, cassis and wild berries mingled with hints of black truffle, rose petals and warm spices, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, its chassis of ripe, powdery tannin entirely concealed by an ample core of fruit. Seamless and complete, it concludes with a long, expansive finish. Drink 2027 - 2060.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cherbaudes 1er Cru sees no new oak. The clean nose is more precise and mineral-driven than the Champonnets, extremely well focused and brimming with energy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, a superb line of acidity and a very harmonious, tender finish. This is classy and just plain delicious. Drink 2023-2040.

Rich deep crimson-purple, the nose suggesting whole bunch vinification to me, which they do not use, intriguing. This is a powerful beast from ancient vines, almost a touch of heat, very powerful stuff.
