A more elegant nose features notes of herbal tea, red and dark currant and plenty of earth influences. There is both more energy and detail if less richness to the sleek, delicious and lingering finale that is refreshing even with a hint of warmth. This too is very good for its level and worth checking out. Drink 2026+.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Village was completely destemmed. I had trouble getting my head around the bouquet; it came across quite reduced (which is not uncommon with young Gouges wines), missing some delineation and a bit blocky. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and offers commendable vigor, moderate depth and candied red fruit laced with orange peel toward the finish. Hopefully the aromatics will knit together with bottle age. Drink 2022 - 2030.

Rich deep purple, this also has an almost too ripe nose but more in ultra ripe grapes rather than prunes, and the acidity is good. This will fill out nicely, there is already a wealth of flesh backed by a few tannins, so all should be fine. The Nuits-St-Georges certainly finishes on a fresher note.
