Other Reviews....
There is a suggestion of herbal tea on the exuberantly spicy aromas of red and dark raspberry along with a hint of violet. There is a wonderful texture to the classy and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract before culminating in a compact, serious and built-to-age finish. This too could use better depth but the underlying material, and this wine's consistently outstanding track record, bodes well for the future. One to strongly consider. Drink 2031+.

The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with a deep-pitched bouquet of wild berries and plums mingled with raw cocoa, peonies and subtle hints of spice. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's seamless and complete, with a deep core of fruit and velvety structuring tannins. Drink 2023 - 2059.

The 2019 Volnay Les Caillerets "Ancienne Cuvée Carnot" 1er Cru is a mixture of red and black fruit on the nose, quite floral in style, well defined and showing more joie-de-vivre than the Chevrets. The medium-bodied palate is silky-smooth with supple tannins and flecks of dark chocolate toward the finish. Moderate depth and persistence. This Les Caillerets needs time in bottle. Drink 2024 - 2040.

This a firm and pretty red with a solid tannin backbone to the medium body. Ripe fruit with some walnut, tobacco, and floral undertones. It’s long and flavorful. Balanced and firm. Classic style. Drink in 2025.

Rich deep purple, slightly richer plum nose, sweet dark fruit, very powerful, almost too much. Dark black cherry with lush raspberry alongside. This is something of a fruit bomb at the moment, but will merit a higher rating if it refines and gains gravitas during the rest of the elevage.
