2019 Delatite Catherine's Block Reserve Gewurztraminer (375ml)
Brilliant pale straw to straw colour with a watery hue. Intense rosewater and lychee aromas lead the way trailed by subtle notions of Turkish delight, musk and ginger spice. Lusciously textured yet quite light and airy across the palate, lychee, musk and tropical fruit flavours are to the fore with some honeysuckle, delicate ginger and spice chiming in on the seemingly dry, fresh finish. Beautifully integrated acidity with a long fine, elegant aftertaste.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
This is a truly exceptional wine. Lacy acidity curtails the variety's inherent tendency toward excess. The usual cavalcade of exotica is present: tropical fruits, orange blossom and honeysuckle. Yet the overall impression is one of great finesse and uncanny refinement. This is already a delicious wine, with moderate ageing to deliver even greater complexity. Among the finest dessert wines from this country. Drink by 2027.
